About

WBYK is Sonny Day & Biddy Maroney. We live and work in Newtown, Sydney, Australia. We are exhibiting artists as well as commercial illustrators operating as a small multi-disciplinary design studio, collaborating with a set of talented web developers, animators and photographers.

We began working together in 2006, creating screen-printed posters for local Popfrenzy tours. Today much of our work is still for the music industry, but we also create a great deal for a varied list of clients across different sectors in about as many mediums as you can think of.

We’ve had solo exhibitions in galleries like Monster Children, Mart and MTV Galleries in Sydney and Lamington Drive in Melbourne as well as taking part in a long list of group exhibitions in various places around The World. Our exhibited work is often based on witchcraft, mishaps, misdemeanours, and voodoo. We have made a lot of work about cats. And one of ODB’s disembodied radiating head.

As commercial illustrators we’re represented by The Jacky Winter Group and have been commissioned to illustrate for publications such as Business Week, Rolling Stone Australia, Wired USA and the New York Times, to list a few.

We’ve illustrated and designed work for brands including Adidas, XXXX, Tourism Victoria, Qantas, Urban Outfitters, V Energy Drinks, Mountain Dew, MTV, Skateboarding Australia, EMI Australia, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, and a long list of local and international bands.

Bless This Mess

It’s a mess. We work and live and will probably die in it.
This is The Board Room:

working

There are some creepy pictures of our mess and us hiding under our desks on the Australian Infront site, proving we are not only the one Australian “design studio” to have never won an award but also perhaps the only one to not own an Ikea Expedit bookshelf. (We did not win that skateboarding trophy – we stole it from nice people.)
